The London Breast Care Centre at HealthBay will set new standards of delivery for breast care in Dubai and this involves audited excellence of medical staffing, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and research activity.”
Routine breast screening is not normally recommended for women under 40 years of age unless there are high-risk factors such as the presence of a breast cancer-causing gene mutation and/or a strong family history of the disease. There is no ideal interval for screening, however, 12 months to 24 months (in the absence of clinical signs) is advised.
The interval should be 12 months for women who have a family history of breast or ovarian cancer, dense breasts or a previous history or breast cancer or pre-cancer. Furthermore, women with dense breasts are advised to have an ultrasound in addition to digital mammography.
The Centre will use revolutionary new screening and diagnostic breast imaging tools, that are not currently available anywhere else in Dubai, to improve the early detection of breast cancer, including the state of the art Digital 3D Mammogram and Contrast enhanced mammogram. Review of images and breast assessments will be done at HealthBay in collaboration with the London Breast Care Centre team based in London, UK. For patients who choose to stay in Dubai for their treatment, surgical and chemotherapy treatment are available at the new HealthBay Cancer Centre and will also be done in collaboration with the London Breast Care Centre.
